High-Field Performing Open MRI
Precision Diagnostic Imaging (PDI) centers feature the Hitachi Elite, a high-field performing, OPEN MRI. Traditional open systems cannot compete with the Elite's magnet strength or comfort. The Elite combines the advantages of a high-field system for high-resolution images with an ultra-wide opening, which is especially comfortable for claustrophobics, large patients, patients in pain, the physically challenged, and the young and old. Also, with faster throughput, patients may be scanned in half the time of a traditional OPEN MRI.
Magnet Type: Open
Magnet Field: Vertical
Field Strength: 0.3 T
Table: 80 cm wide, 6 direction, power driven

Elite's Specialty Clinical Applications
- Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA) with time-of-flight, phased contrast, and contrast enhanced capabilities for evaluation of the intercranial circulation, carotid arteries, renal arteries, and other vascular imaging critical to the evaluation of acute vascular processes and acute head trauma during which the earliest and most accurate diagnosis is critical
- Diffusion-weighted imaging that uses echo planar imaging has been successful in acute ischemia diagnosis and provides potential for treatment and/or reversal of stroke damage
- RF fat saturation which suppresses fat in order to better visualize anatomical detail, which is key in musculoskeletal studies
- Accommodation of motion imaging in the patient's position of pain. For example, cervical spine imaging with the spine imaged in flexor or extension
- Scanning of acute patients, including critical care patients needing airway management
Patient Friendly Design
- Award winning open gantry architecture creates an airy, friendly environment that will accommodate a wide variety of body types, especially larger stature patients
- Open on all four sides to minimize feelings of anxiety and claustrophobia, potentially reducing the need for patient sedation
- Wide, power driven, six-direction table makes it easy to accurately position patients of all sizes
Technology
- High performance gradient system for the maximum image quality and clinical flexibility usually found only in high-field imaging.
- High contrast resolution for better ability to discriminate between tissue types.
- Ultra-fast imaging techniques, such as fast spin echo and echo planar imaging, offer faster throughput for uncooperative or trauma patients.
- VOSI technology maximizes signal, minimizes noise, allows for small field-of-view imaging with very thin slices, and delivers operational flexibility in setting up acquisition protocols to optimize signal-to-noise, spatial resolution, and contrast resolution.
Magnet
- State-of-the-art vertical field open magnet meticulously
engineered homogeneity
Coils
- Wide range of comfortable, anatomically specific coils for high signal sensitivity and uniformity
